Hike to Grouse Mountain
Grouse Mountain is the "Hausberg" of Vancouver. It is so close to the city that you can go there by bus. We can also the Grouse from or living room if there is good weather.
the area of vancouver, on the left UBC, on the right Grouse Mountain
early in the morning, still tired

the lift starts on the left bottom part of the mountain
we started at the bottom of the cable car
the grouse grind trail

bush, it was wet

and foggy

kerstin, just before we reached the freezing level

me in the snow

kerstin, there was quite a bit of snow, and that was only half way up

it is just great, only 15km away from ubc

after something less than 2 hours we reached the gondola station

seppel, having a break and some food

kerstin in the restaurant

after we warmed up we put our snowshoes on (which seppel carried all the way up) and started to hike

after we left the busy area (where the gondola arrives) there wasn't anybody, it was so cool to hike around in the deep powder, we were in the pure nature, couldn't here or see anybody, only the snowflakes fell down

and suddenly we encountered a bear, that was quite shocking, I was so close to it, I have heard a lot of stories about bear attacks but what should we do now???
